About the Project:

Designing for the Globe

Healing Rooms is a global Christian ministry that has been operating for nearly 30 years and has profound influence in the Protestant Christian sphere. They empower individuals to run their own ministry locations, and act as the HQ to thousands of locations. As a result of being so old and so large, a lot of the early tech they laid in place was mishmashed, thrown together, held together by duct tape.

Through a strange set of circumstances, I met the founder and ended up being flown out to rebuild their entire techstack. I needed to update the frontend and backend while making it extremely accessible for users (many of the users were 65+ and technology challenged).

The task was massive and I led a small team of devs for nearly a year to finally rebuild and deliver the project.

Process:

Needs → Spec → Design → Code → Deploy

I began talking with the individual stakeholders of the project and realized… that this was a way bigger project than I signed up for. I was on the floor multiple times, overwhelmed by how much work there was to do.

Nonetheless, I began spec’ing out essentials and did multiple mockups. I began hiring a few developers to help me build out the site, and eventually deployed to thousands of users.
